The aim of the project was to create an attractive inner courtyard as a garden and meditation space with a variety of uses in club life.
The inner courtyard of the Buddhist Center Kiel is enclosed by two residential buildings facing the street, in which members of the association live, the public rooms of the meditation center, the meditation room and a wall to the neighboring property. The wish of the association was to create here an oasis for the residents, as well as the meditators coming from outside, which also contains all the necessary functions of a garden (garbage location, path connection, terrace, kitchen bed).
Created from sandstone steps and small pavers in conjunction with clinker paving a harmonious facility that meets the diverse needs through small multicoded areas. A high-quality planting plan of woody plants, perennials and bulbs offers a wealth of blossoms and foliage in every season. In the afternoons, the inner courtyard serves as a quiet place of relaxation or meditation for club members. In the evenings as a meeting place for groups and a public venue. In bad weather, simply as a passage from the residence to the meditation rooms.
Due to the fixed furniture, there is room for many people to take meals or talk during events. Also, by equalizing the heights between the paved area and the lawn, it is possible to set up a tent or a larger number of marquee sets for large events.
The enthusiastic use clearly shows that the different requirements could be met.
