The trigger for the redesign of the sports grounds at Gymnasium Heidberg was the pending appointment of the school as an "elite school of football", according to which a special focus was to be placed on the promotion of football in cooperation with Hamburger SV.
The sports facilities were reorganised in such a way that the artificial turf pitch, which is illuminated by a floodlight system, could be enlarged to 95 x 55 m. Two 59 x 40 m small pitches were integrated into this. Two 59 x 40 m small playing fields were integrated into this.
In addition to football, the facility allows for the practice of track and field quadruple discipline as well as the common long and middle distances on a two-lane synthetic circular track. In the south and east of the facility, two beach volleyball courts and a streetball court complete the sports offer.
