The Johannes Kelmes sports facility is to be developed into a sports park. This would include the creation of a Type B athletics facility, a partially covered seating grandstand, and an additional large artificial turf field. In addition, the existing building would be expanded to provide a home base for all clubs. This measure, which was developed in the sports facility development concept, is divided into several phases.
The current measure includes the construction of a new artificial turf pitch filled with cork sand and the barrier-free connection to the existing changing room building in the south.
Because of the consideration of the space requirements for a later fighting track B with grandstand, a floodlighting system has been implemented that already takes into account the later planned expansion to a fighting track type B from the location of the poles and is equipped with energy-saving LEDs. The concept includes a later adaptation of the lighting to the necessities of the fighting track.
