Skylabs Heidelberg Railway City

SkyLabs is the largest office and laboratory building on the Bahnstadt Heidelberg site.
On the basis of the architect's design, Lill Sparla Landschaftsarchitekten developed the implementation planning and tendering for the 100% underbuilt open spaces and extensive roofscapes for Fischer Architekten GmbH.

"The design takes up the basic features of the Campus II mission statement and interprets it in its own way. A five-storey block, a five-storey bar and an eight-storey tower act as actors on a common stage, the base storey. Together, the ensemble occupies the edge of the block. The tower as protagonist marks the corner of the area.

An opening of the block with a generous staircase to the Zollhofgarten allows the use of the stage and invites with a gesture of "Open Arms" to linger.

The base interprets the massive stage with a cladding of architectural concrete. The playable open space on the base shows itself in the same materiality as a fifth facade."
