In the course of the planned new development on Welfenstraße, the opportunity arose to upgrade the square. By abandoning two streets to the west and south, the square can be significantly expanded, while the valuable tree population is preserved and included in the redesign.
Towards the railway, the development plan establishes a 3.50 m high noise barrier, in which a terraced play landscape is integrated.
An open free meadow is bordered by clearly geometrically circumscribed paths along the existing tree line. The areas under the trees on the north and east sides receive a flat understory of shade shrubs. The west side opens up with a row of flowering small trees to the new residential development and the square in front of it.
