Outdoor facilities for the VoltAir office buildings and commercial buildings in Berlin

An innovative office building and commercial building is being constructed in central location, close to Alexanderplatz. The building is characterized by intensively landscaped terraces as projections and recesses, which determine both the exterior and the courtyard-side facade. A spacious inner courtyard completes the overall picture and offers a variety of different spaces to rest and to experience the diverse planting beds.
The planting beds of the courtyards with seating edgings or wooden platforms shape a uniform central design theme that is used from the courtyard to the terraces, reaching up to the roof terraces. In addition to the high proportion of greenery in and around the building and on the courtyard area, rainwater retention on the underbuilt underground parking area and the extensive green roofs complement the sustainable ecological approach of the project.
The design of the open spaces also includes the adjacent private access road, which, in addition to the access to the underground parking and service areas, also offers spaces for outdoor food facilities and planting.
