The Perlach North School Center is one of the largest school buildings in the city of Munich. With the renovation of the building, which dates back to the 70s, the outdoor facilities were also revised. The aim was to structure the existing elevation situation and to create a functioning drainage system.
With the redesign of the break yard areas, new recreational areas were also created in the form of tree groves. The central point in the western courtyard is a square covered with tulip trees, on which oversized seating stones were placed.
Lushly planted perennial beds and partly irrigated plant troughs on the level and along the edge of the roof of the 1st floor provide year-round shade. After completion of the break yard areas, the outdoor facilities will be renovated or restored as part of the general renovation of the gymnasium, analogous to the renovation and new construction of the schoolyard and the open spaces. Where possible, existing trees will be preserved or replaced by new plantings. Additional bicycle racks are planned in the schoolyard to meet the increased demand for bicycle parking.
