A new, self-confident, modern and inviting entrance and forecourt area was created for the museum. To this end, the historical elements were preserved, strengthened and carefully adapted to the requirements of the present day. The space has been reorganized, particularly with regard to accessibility. The area in front of the museum can be used for events. The previously inaccessible colonnades have been reopened to visitors. The existing steps were partially demolished and the Goethe statue was secured.
