Our design approach for Anger Erfurt was not only to showcase the urban space with its historic facades and create a high quality of stay, but also to enable pedestrians, cyclists and the streetcar to coexist without conflict.
The task was to plan a surface that would hold the long, narrow and curved space together using a consistent design principle. The 30,000 m² pedestrian zone (1st and 2nd construction phases) was modernized with a granite surface adapted to the materiality of the façades, whose timeless surface takes up the curve of the Angers by means of a wedge-shaped banding.
