For a commercial development in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, a retention area compensation was required, which was to be achieved by excavating the terrain in the vicinity of the Erlenbrunnen (2nd order watercourse). As the watercourse in this section had enormous deficits and was in a completely desolate and highly polluted state, the section of watercourse in question was redesigned in a near-natural state in connection with the necessary terrain modeling to compensate for the retention area. Non-natural bank and bed structures were removed and the stream was given a slightly meandering course. The banks were secured using bioengineering methods.
