In the course of its renovation and extension, the Wilhelminian-style school ensemble was developed into a modern school campus. A public forecourt and a transparent glass corridor on the 1st floor connect the

the two spatially separated sections. The guiding principle of the design was a blue-green schoolyard that integrates the historic trees and uses the varied relief for functional rainwater management. Underground infiltration systems seep away precipitation. In the event of heavy rainfall, precipitation is temporarily stored in lower-lying surface areas and then fed into the infiltration channels with a delay. This meant that the school campus could be completely separated from the rainwater network.

The courtyard areas are divided into themed sub-spaces with a variety of exercise and recreational facilities. The material concept focuses on durability, sustainability and reuse. Found natural stone coverings were integrated into the design. By slightly adapting the course of the listed enclosure, more spacious forecourts, secure entrances and a kiss-and-go zone were created. The sports hall is accessed via the school's open spaces without the need to cross roads. For non-school sports activities, access is possible via the public thoroughfare.
