The historic, listed private garden in a central Hamburg location was extensively redesigned as part of renovation and conversion work on the building (built in 1827). Parts of the approx. 2,800 square meter garden were restored to the original design from the 1920s and supplemented with new design elements.
The rear garden area adjoining the house to the east is under special protection from a garden conservation point of view, as the historical basic structures of a garden from 1921 are still clearly visible there. The garden develops here from the house over four levels at different heights right up to the property boundary. The terrace area is dominated by intensive perennial planting, deciduous accent trees and espalier trees. The steps and terrace slabs at the house and the garden walls are made of sandblasted dolomite. The ornamental pool in the spacious lawn at the back of the garden has been painstakingly restored from historic sandstone. The same applies to the historic sandstone edging of the lawns and steps in the eastern garden.
Framing by a hedge parterre strengthens the historical figure in the rear garden and defines the transition to the framing woodland garden with its old trees.
In the western front garden, a large hanging beech stands in the center of the grounds.
The driveway and the central garden space in front of the building are also made of dolomite.
The vegetation areas are characterized by an extensive wave garden of evergreen Japanese holly. Accents with multi-stemmed maples complete the picture.
