The Heinrich von Kleist Park was redesigned in 1945 by Georg Bela Pniower on behalf of the Allied Control Council. On a remnant of the former Royal Botanical Garden, after its relocation to Dahlem from 1910 onwards, a symmetrically aligned park had been designed by the City Garden Director at the time, Albert Brodersen. Back then, the park was extended between the neo-baroque building of the superior Court of Justice (Kammergerichtsgebäude, 1909-1913) in the West and the Königskolonnaden were translocated to Potsdamer Straße in 1910-11.
G- B. Pniower, who was banned from his profession during the National Socialist era, was to transform the war-ravaged park into a "distinguished foreground" for the seat of the Control Council in the former Kammergericht building.
In connection with the restoration of the Königskolonnaden (2004-2006), TOPOS was commissioned with a garden monument preservation analysis and the restoration of the entrance area at the Königskolonnaden (2007-2008) by the administrative entity of Nature and Green Spaces of Berlin's district Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
