The guiding idea for the redesigned surroundings of St. Remigius in Borken was the "church on the square". This is once again stretched out between the neighbouring buildings and is strengthened in its various functional areas by a uniform material and lighting concept. Coming from the market square, the view of the church and the square will open up in the future - market and church square will enter into a dialogue. The transition between the two squares will be open and the access to the platform on the west side of the church will be designed invitingly in the form of a flat staircase. Seating elements integrated into the stairs offer a place to stay. The southern and already barrier-free church access will receive a generous surface as an entrance carpet.
In the transition between the market and the church square, parking spaces will be removed and provided for outdoor gastronomy, bicycle parking and a play point.
