The playground on Liebensteinstraße is one of the most important centrally located open spaces in Lahr, where there is an inner-city play area. This was to be adapted to current usage requirements in an initial phase in 2013.
The characteristic old trees and natural stone walls that surround the site on the slope will be largely preserved. Variants for terrain modeling were tested on the model and a division into two play areas, which are bordered by seating walls, was chosen.
Based on this design, planning was resumed in 2018 and adapted to the changed requirements.
An area for older children up to the age of 12 will be created on the lower level. A corresponding climbing facility offers a variety of opportunities for climbing and playing.
On the upper level, there are play options for younger children, including a sand play area.
By dividing the site into the two play terraces and a curved pathway, it was possible to achieve barrier-free access to the playground despite the hillside location.
