The new cemetery in Oedheim is a village cemetery in an open field location, with direct reference to the large-scale landscape of the Kocher valley. The new cemetery in Oedheim is a village cemetery in an open field location, with direct reference to the large-scale landscape of the Kocher valley. An introverted cemetery complex has been created using the topography, and is set apart from the surrounding agricultural areas.

The local shell limestone was used for the boundary walls of the cemetery and on the building in a variety of handcrafted finishes. From the entrance area of the cemetery, the visitor is guided through a grove of trees to the funeral hall.

The funeral hall is located at the high point of the cemetery, with a wide view of the landscape. Using the topography, small terraces were modelled for the spatial structuring and formation of grave fields. View relations in the wide landscape as well as to the local center and the sub-villages were kept free.
