Exterior landscaping at a 1950s conversion site.
The project emerged from a multiple commissioning process in which it was awarded first prize.
A central green axis links the various rows of buildings on Hindenburgstrasse and the head building on Moltkestrasse. It is formed by a row of cherry trees, a meadow strip and a trellis as a backbone and shield against the parking area. The meadow band is deepened towards the middle and accommodates a retention trough for rainwater. Crossed by paths of flagstones, which connect the entrances to the houses with the carports, it nevertheless remains effective as a continuous green band; the neighbourhood square between the central buildings also fits into this ridge structure, where the green axis runs through and is not cut up.
The construction of carports, bicycle and waste collection points and neighbourhood meeting places creates a dense network of structures with a high intensity of use.
In addition, a greater unity towards the outside and more intimacy towards the inside is achieved. Connections to Hindenburgstrasse and Brachfeldstrasse are placed in the peripheral areas - the centre of the quarter remains free of traffic.
