Creation of a new village centre in a Black Forest community
The village centre of the small sub-community of the town of Oberkirch had degenerated into an asphalted parking and bus turning area. It quickly became clear that a strong centre needed to be defined. The village lime tree offered the solution and seemed appropriate as a binding centre for this small village. We showed pictures of historical examples where the village lime tree was also a dance lime tree. Because school buses continued to turn around on the square, we placed six linden trees on a raised, circular plateau made of granite elements - and lo and behold: the ring for Ringelbach was found.
The six lime trees (Tilia cordata 'Greenspire') were placed in a continuous, ring-shaped tree pit, which was filled with tree substrate; the tree pit was covered with chippings (Black Forest granite).
A lively square surface and sparing, good furniture round off the work.
In connection with the square design, the underground infrastructure was completely renewed: electricity, water and drainage. At night, the center of the square shimmers with ground spotlights that illuminate the linden trees from below, thus unagitatedly bringing the town center to the fore even when it is dark.
