Taking into account the framework planning for the redevelopment area, watercourse and flood protection as well as nature conservation concerns, the planning aims to improve the urban and open space structures between residential development and the Saale.
The Saale floodplain is deliberately made newly accessible to the residents of Jena and visitors. Since a usable water landscape contributes significantly to the residential satisfaction of the citizens of the district Jena East and to the overall open space quality of the city of Jena, the open space at Wenigenjenaer Ufer including the adjacent Saale floodplain to the west presents itself as a sensitively responding to the location, intensively designed and robust local recreation area with colorful, seasonally aspect-rich, scenic spatial experience in diverse quality of stay, accentuated by artistic contributions in the form of playable art and overall very well received by residents.
