The approx. 1.7 ha large Laubenheimer Park dates in its basic features from the 1870s. At that time, the former village green was laid out by Heinrich Siesmayer as a landscaped orchard on behalf of the owners.
In the 1950s, the park initially went to the local community of Laubenheim, was made accessible to the public and was changed for the last time in the course of the incorporation of Laubenheim to Mainz (1969) in the style of the time.
Today, the park is used for a variety of purposes and is in a state in need of renovation due to high user pressure. Therefore, in 2017, the Parks and Environment Department decided to include Laubenheimer Park in the City of Mainz's green space redevelopment program and commission the park maintenance work.
The aim was to document the development of Laubenheimer Park over time, to present the current situation and to evaluate the respective survey results. Based on the findings, a target plan for the renovation and further development of the park was developed, on which concrete measures as well as a maintenance concept are based.
