From 1783 onwards, the owner's family had the baroque castle built by the Kassel court architect Simon Luis Du Ry. The castle was built on the foundation walls of the former hilltop castle from the 14th century.
In order to give the palace complex the appropriate resonance surface, huge retaining walls and earthworks were required to level the mountain plateau. A planade of lime trees was planted to the west of the castle. The landscaped park with various deciduous and coniferous shrubs and pleasure ground beds made no reference to the baroque palace.
The geometric garden with its axial symmetry in relation to the palace axis was not created until the 1920s or early 1930s. In the sense of the garden monument preservation the office L-A-E renewed the basic structures of the arrangement: The collapsed esplanade was replanted with small-crowned lime trees and the courtyard of honour was provided with a bypass at the request of the owner for today's functional requirements. The parterre of the cour d'honneur was enclosed with a shell limestone wall. The axis ends in a small fountain.
In the visual shadow of the wall, a swimming pool
- 5 x 12 m - with a bathing pavilion was built, which can also be used as a small orangery.
