playground of the Phoenix-Gymnasium in Dortmund

With the prominent location of the school directly on the new landscape space of the Emscheraue, the unique opportunity arose to link the school exterior of the Phoenix-Gymnasium with the new Emschertal. The linear structure of the new Emscher ribbon was taken up for the redesign of the schoolyard of the Phoenix-Gymnasium and forms the backbone for the schoolyard.

Three fields (the third field can only be realized at a later date) with different focal points of use connect these ribbons. With their slightly rising level to the Emscher and the seating edge, they form a 'balcony' to the landscape space.

The western usage field at the old sports hall offers space for the bouldering facility, table tennis tables or other active play and sports facilities. The second realized field creates a quiet place for sitting and retreat, structured by walkable lawn bands.
