The fountain field on Breite Straße is the prelude to the redesign of the Peace Park in Pirna. The concept for the Peace Park is based on the historical model and therefore provides a functional division of the facility into the following areas:
- Prelude and recreation area on Breite Straße
- Quiet zone in the middle of the park
- Active area with playground in the rear part of the park
The three areas are connected by a uniform curved design language and a consistent color and material concept and form the design framework of the park in accordance with the historical model.
The design of the opening on Breite Straße with a uniform and low-maintenance pavement connects the park and the footpath and thus creates an inviting gesture towards the street space. The desired attraction of the park for passing pedestrians can thus be strengthened and people drawn into the park. A water fountain field and seating cubes serve as attraction points. The water feature will be integrated into the pavement at ground level and will attract the attention of visitors with small, rising water jets. The ground level allows a low-maintenance operation of the installation and the area remains multifunctional usable. The technical installations for the water feature are housed in an underfloor structure. Other elements such as boards with information on the history of the park, pole lights and benches are discreetly integrated into the square design.
