The open spaces of the 84th elementary school are listed and have the highest priority in the context of the "Application for World Heritage Site Hellerau". The design of the school's open space is seen in close connection with the entire open space of the Garden City Hellerau. In order to clarify the preservation, restoration of historic building details and plantings in the outdoor space, a fundamental survey and documentation was necessary for the planning. For this purpose, a monument preservation framework concept with research, plant genesis and target planning was developed.
One focus of the planning was the design of the forecourt in accordance with the monument preservation regulations as well as the construction of a fence system according to the hiostoric model. In the after-school play areas, areas for natural play with a variety of movement types, such as slides, swings and climbing are offered. To the west of the active play areas, a new nature play area with a small water feature has been created. A new ball field is used for school sports. The playgrounds are paved and equipped with benches and litter bins. The caretaker's house was retained and is linked to the existing green spaces by means of a "green frame".
