Sulmpark Neckarsulm Rediscover the Sulm!

The first documented mention of the town of Neckarsulm as "Villa Sulmana" is already marked by the name SULM. Today, it is important to re-establish the significance of the Sulm as an identity-giving landscape element in the city. A reconstruction of the Sulm corresponds to the wish to experience "nature in the city" as well as to get an ecologically more valuable environment. Thus, starting from the restoration of the river, a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the city as a whole can be made. The Sulm Park stretches over 2 km from the city centre into the wine-growing and agricultural landscape and is divided into three character zones. The city park is the intensively cultivated part of the park close to the city centre. In the middle of the park, the Sulm River with its "renaturalized" character near the city unfolds a special Reitz. The mixture of play and sports activities, as well as the experience of nature and recreation, characterise the quality of the park. The Sulmsee is the scenic attraction with valuable biotp structures, as well as space for recreation and natural cover. The four major goals of the redesign are: To make the Sulm River an experience, to create a park for all, to connect city and landscape and to integrate flood protection. The main idea of the project is to relate the Sulm to the park and to strengthen both as part of Neckarsulm's identity and attractiveness.
