The defining element of the Tianjin Eco City Site is the old river course of the Ji Canal. The design of Eco City in its general form is defined by the picturesque location on the river bank and the arch of the old canal with its natural course through the master plan. The island from the Ji Canal and the old course of the Ji Canal form the eco-core of Eco City. The part on the headland between the two watercourses is reserved for research, conferences and exhibitions.
The Eco City is composed of various districts around the old river course and the Eco core. Each district is multifunctional and has its own center. Green corridors connect the Eco City with the urban areas on the south-east side. The Eco Valley, as the backbone of the Eco City, is accompanied by the gentle S-curve of the river. The building typology of Eco City, which has some special aspects in its individual areas, gives it a characteristic look.
The buildings are designed with a landscape of roof gardens, terraces, balconies and green facades, responding to changing external conditions, through facade and sun shading in summer. At the same time, sunlight enters the buildings at cool times of the year.
