The Catholic church in Rheinmünster-Stollhofen was originally heavily built in all around and stood on a concrete composite stone pavement. By demolition of a farm building south of the church a small space had been created and bekiest; three formerly donated lime trees and two ball robinia stood around somewhat lost.
But the overall spatial situation was good and the beautiful neo-Baroque church offered a strong center.
We grasped the additional area as an opportunity to form a space with meditative character (cloister). Accordingly, it was given a pergola (roses and vines) at the edge, a fountain in the middle, and we left one of the three lime trees standing as a courtyard tree (three would have become too large later). This area we delimited with sandstone bollards to avoid parking.
It was a sunny small village square, whose proportions now, by the intermediate height of the marginal arcade, human measure, whereas previously the excess height of the square walls (church, residential buildings) in the small square area almost oppressive.
