Open spaces in the vicinity of the technical headquarters of E.ON Avacon AG

Design of the open spaces around the town hall and the E.ON Avacon AG technical centre. Design of the connecting axis between the pedestrian zone and Lake Salzgitter.

The new construction of the E.ON technical headquarters in a central, inner-city location creates an opportunity for the city of Salzgitter to strengthen and redevelop a previously unclear, interrupted green axis between Lake Salzgitter, the city hall and the pedestrian area of the city centre.

In the context of the new technology center and the city hall, we design a clear sequence of plazas and green spaces that form the prelude to an attractive green corridor. The design takes up the green corridor in the south, continues it in the form of a park landscape over the roof of the new parking deck and ends on
the new large inner-city square between the city hall and E.ON's new building. In this way, the design creates the "MISSING LINK" and connects the inner-city pedestrian zone and Salzgittersee.

In addition to the new square, the park landscape is also to be understood as a public space and thus forms the added value that E.ON achieves for the city of Salzgitter. The open spaces offer quality of stay and are intergenerational play and recreation areas. E.ON's technical headquarters floats as a copper disc above the park landscape and creates a unity of landscape and architecture.
