Brainlab Headquarters

Design of the open spaces of the new headquarters of the BRAINLAB company. Networking of the open spaces with the existing Riemerpark.

In the east of Munich, at the entrance to Messestadt Riem, WÖHR BAUER has built a new headquarters for the BRAINLAB company. The listed tower of the airport, one of few reminiscences of its former use, is to be integrated into the project for BRAINLAB and thus put to a new use.

The generous open space in the south as an extension of the trade fair apron is given a pleasant spatial setting by the arched glass shield of the new building. Nevertheless, the freestanding tower shapes the design of the square: starting from the contour of the tower's "footprint", a bright network of lines
is stretched out, dividing the open space of the headquarters into different zones. The line graphics, reminiscent of the ground markings of roads or an airfield, facilitate orientation and delineate - clearly visible - different areas of use without creating barriers. Thus, the right of way (from the "Olof-Palme-Straße") for taxis and customers with the possibility to turn around is clearly recognizable.

The restaurant open space with about 50 seats is protected and spatially separated behind a generous lawn. In the extension of the ground plan contour of the tower, there is a "sky mirror" filled with water in the south, which invites to stay on the forecourt.
