Public park and design of open spaces in the vicinity of the residential quarter on a former container railway station.
The Südliche Furth housing estate was built on the site of the former container railway station in Neuss. The open space concept for the residential quarter envisages a decentralised arrangement of open spaces that take on differentiated tasks in terms of urban space and neighbourhood. The demands of all residents and age groups are met through a variety of offers. Water is the identity-creating design element, as the accumulating roof water is led in open gutters and in the south into a pond with infiltration trough.
Other focal points of the design are the southern neighbourhood garden, the water axis with seating steps at the infiltration pond and the large water playground. The central neighbourhood square, the hilly landscape on the noise barrier in the east, the youth club and the skate and streetball arena in the former railway shed also contribute to the quality of stay.
