Cemetery Westhausen

Alternative forms of burial are implemented at the Westhausen cemetery.

The cemetery Westhausen consists of an old and a new part.
The new part is located west in the area of the funeral hall and the older part is located east of the cemetery.
A unified coherent overall concept has been developed to offer various alternative forms of burial and to be able to connect the two parts, old and new, through design. In both parts, alternative burial forms are implemented.

In the northern part of the funeral home (new cemetery), lawn graves have already been realized. Here the gravestones may be individually selected, as with a single grave burial.
In the old part of the cemetery, a grove of rest with different types of trees is to be created, with an urn grove integrated in the middle. In the urn grove, two urn steles have already been built, which have also been partially occupied.

West of the urn grove are urn community facilities with a ground-soil planting. With these urn community plants, the grave plates as well as the planting are uniformly arranged.

On the mirrored surface of the rest grove a memory grove develops, with this tree burials are possible. Here, too, some trees have already been planted for the tree grove, such as Prunus serrulata 'Pink Perfection' (light pink carnation cherry) or Tilia cordata 'Rancho' (small-crowned winter lime).

More trees are to be planted each year to complement the grove of rest and remembrance, as well as the welcome grove planned further east.
