Veldenz-Gymnasium school sports facility Lauterecken (Rhineland-Palatinate)

The old school sports facility at Veldenz Gymnasium in Lauterecken, which consisted of a natural grass surface with a narrow running track made of a cinder surface, was completely renovated. The new approx. 7,000 m² sports facility was successfully completed in 2018 after a two-year planning and implementation phase.



The new design included a small synthetic turf pitch with a playing area of 58.5 x 30.8 m, a surrounding 200 m running track (4 lanes) made of synthetic material, an adjacent 100 m running track (4 lanes) and a 3-lane long jump facility with integrated 3-jump. A plastic multi-purpose playing field (32 x 36 m) for basketball, handball and volleyball, among others, and a shot put facility with a turf surface were also added. As part of the design planning, a participation process was also carried out at the school with pupils and some of the teaching staff.
