Lowland area located in the Weser and Aller flatlands to the west of Steinhuder Meer; extensively used as grassland or left fallow, flowed through by Steinhuder Meerbach, Nordbach and Südbach, structured by groups and rows of black alders.
In the region of Hanover, the districts of Nienburg/Weser and Schaumburg, an area of approx. 920 ha, approx. two-thirds of the land was purchased in order to ensure the long-term preservation and development of typical plant communities and meadow bird communities of the lowland areas. A number of nature conservation measures have been implemented in the area as a whole in order to sustainably secure and develop the living conditions and habitats of the increasingly endangered animal and plant species of the wet grassland.
The area can be viewed from signposted paths and bird watching is possible, for example, from observation towers. Guided tours / bike tours are offered by the ÖSSM and the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park.
