Since the discovery of the mikvah took place during construction work on the Kreuzsand green space, which was to be renovated, a reorientation was necessary. The focus of the design was now on the enclosed mikvah as a place to visit. In keeping with the high significance of the monument and its expected frequency of visitors, barrier-free paths, walls, shrubbery and lawns were laid out, and benches were installed for visitors to linger. A terrace on the roof of the structural frame around the mikvah offers a view of the Krämerbrücke and - via the light stele - insight into the interior.
Over steps and a barrier-free, illuminated ramp one reaches the entrance level at the water. Along the way, a retaining wall facing away from the river was built of exposed concrete, additionally upgraded in structure and color. The existing gravity wall was adjusted in height and continued by a new quay wall that allows one to approach the water. In order to protect the existing trees, the height of the green areas was maintained and bordered by steel bands. At the end of the construction work, a new tree, a hop hornbeam, was planted.
