The baroque palace garden with the remains of the Renaissance palace, which burnt down in 1945, is located in the town of Ebeleben. Due to the poor state of maintenance, the heritage value of the complex, which is used as a public park, was not known to the general public until the 1990s. It was not until 1997 that the planning carried out by PSL attracted a great deal of attention among experts and in the public media and resulted in large-scale funding from various donors such as the Free State of Thuringia and the German Foundation for Monument Protection, which continues to this day. Following the planning security achieved with regard to the monument ensemble through the preparation of a park maintenance plan (PSL), it has already been possible to implement nine construction phases on the municipal part and one construction phase in the ownership of Diakonie e.V. (work phases 1 to 9, approx. 3.5 million EUR construction sum in total), so that the park has been largely redeveloped apart from the last construction phase, the redevelopment of the Great Cascade. The main construction measures were the construction of paths including steps and footbridges, securing of walls and remains of ruins, creation of vegetation areas and tree planting, integration of the renovated sandstone sculptures and renovation of the entire water art. This was made possible by monument preservation excavations to prove the historical structures and installations as well as the complex planning and construction implementation geared to this. General planning services were required here, which included the services of structural planning, electrical planning, special surveying for the preservation of monuments, water technology, stone conservation, investigation of contaminated sites and architectural services. The involvement of the agencies was extensive. The specifications of the funding agencies had to be strictly adhered to with regard to application, adherence to deadlines, local presence and proof of the use of funds (documentation). In cooperation with the local architectural office Angermann, a permanent presence was ensured.
