The new plaza space is a tableau for the architecture, the public buildings of the synagogue and the Jewish Museum.
The design supports the spatial flow within the urban fabric.
In the newly framed, multifaceted space, which continues the old town structure, the principle of flowing space is elevated to a theme, the square also becomes a tableau for solitary architecture.
The placement of two interior spatial elements accentuates the two subspaces:
Two elongated flat, cubic decorative and play elements navigate like ships in the flowing space. The fountain is made of colored Norwegian slate ( ottaphyllite), and the sand table is made of pagwood.
14 trees have been replaced with 22 new gledite trees, which can be planted over the bunker. The solitary deciduous trees (Gleditsia triacanthos 'Shademaster') and benches are distributed in groups around the square in such a way as to create islands for lounging. The smooth, sawn granite small stone runs in one direction through the various spaces.
The playground was expanded during the planning at the request of local residents at the cafe of the Jewish Museum with bouncing and seesaw equipment on a fall protection oval.
At the opening, the chairwoman of the Jewish community said that now a city square has been created, where the stranger will meet the stranger.
