The new entrance to the Wietzepark, which was created in 2000, marks a junction of important cycle path connections and park paths as well as the tangential district road 325. The Wietzepark is part of the higher-level, regionally significant recreational area of Wietzetal in the north of Hanover. The rearrangement of the path junctions and the widening to a small forecourt facilitates the encounter of pedestrians and cyclists, offers the opportunity for a short stop, for reorientation in the path network and improves the overview and safety when crossing the road. Flanked by two earth wedges with supporting panels made of surface-rusting, weatherproof Corten steel and covered with a flower-rich mixed shrub planting, the park access is simultaneously given a distinctive shape, which refers in particular to the typical natural grass-ice stone that characterises the lower soil layers.
