The hospital of the Barmherzige Brüder, located directly at the Nymphenburger Schlossrondell, underwent a general renovation in several construction phases. In the course of the open space design, the green belt adjacent to the Schlossrondell was carefully redesigned into park-like patient garden areas, thus implementing the hospital's mission statement "Quality of life in illness" in the open space as well.
The first of several green roofs was laid out as early as 1991. A further 1,400 m² roof area allocated to geriatrics, created in the course of the 3rd construction phase, accommodates a "walking school". However, the roof garden is not only designed as a therapy garden. A steel pergola with shades, fragrant herb raised beds, high-quality patio furniture and loungers in the middle of a colorful meadow of extensive flowers take up the mission statement of the house, "quality of life in the disease" again and create an extremely attractive and readily accepted open space.
In a 12 x 11 m atrium, in turn, landscape was staged across five floors as a grass sculpture, also with the intention of providing a point of orientation in the labyrinth of corridors, on each floor level.
