From 1825 onwards, an area in the Frankfurt district of Bockenheim was used as a cemetery for three quarters of a century. Gradually, the cemetery was then converted into a public park. Some gravestones from the 19th century and a war memorial have survived the times. In 2012, the park was thoroughly renovated on behalf of the Green Spaces Office of the City of Frankfurt and the history of the former cemetery was reappraised. All the gravestones that were previously scattered throughout the area are now grouped together in a gravestone field. A new seating area with hawthorn trees accentuates the new field. The central path of the former cemetery is indicated by red sandstone slabs. The path axis from the former entrance to the war memorial was restored and the lime tree quadrangle consisting of six lime trees at the war memorial was completed. Sawn basalt tuff stones border the park entrance on Solmsstraße. Evergreens now grow at special points in the park.
