The technical and vocational high school were combined together at a new location as a vocational high school in a new building. This is realized in the area of the former Nibelungenkaserne in the south of the city of Regensburg.
The new building of the vocational high school is embedded in about 27,000m ² outdoor facilities, which take over a variety of functions as a campus around the school building and the sports hall. The entire school grounds are open to the public.
The outdoor facilities, with their diverse, linked functional areas, follow the staggering of the buildings and the relief of the site. There are three distinct areas:
The forecourt on which the buildings stand, the three staggered playgrounds, each of which is assigned to a part of the building, as well as the sports area located on the lower level of the site. The school campus can be traversed barrier-free in a north-south direction. Seating steps border the individual break yard areas, lead the view into the landscape and mediate to the lower sports facilities.
Bicycle parking facilities and parking spaces are assigned to the buildings. Old trees could be preserved. Proportions, planting, colour and material selection of the outdoor facilities are coordinated with the building construction.
